Who is she?

Granddaughter of Countess Ermesinde, daughter of Henry V of Luxembourg and Marguerite de Bar, Jeanne was the youngest of seven children.

According to the last wishes of Countess Ermesinde, Henry V founded the Abbey of Clairefontaine between 1247 and 1250.

After Hawis de Bar, Jeanne was the second abbess of Clairefontaine from 1295-1310.

Clairefontaine is the one and only female Cistercian abbey known to date, whose original foundations have been preserved without any modifications.
From feudal times until the French Revolution Beckerich was under the authority of the Sisters of Clairefontaine.

The abbey served as the burial place of the count's family for a century.
