## Who is she?

Aline Grün was born in 1914 in Itzig into a large family. She spent her childhood in Itzig and married Joseph Weistroffer from Kockelscheuer shortly before the Second World War. The Weistroffer family, a farming family from the Saarland, had acquired the isolated farm Jeanmathiashof in Kockelscheuer towards the end of the 19th century. Together with her husband, Aline Grün ran the farm for many years. At the beginning of the 1960s, the farm was rented to a Dutch farmer. Aline Grün and her husband built a new house in the vicinity of the farm. At the same time, a lot of building activity started in the villages and hamlets around Luxembourg City. The agricultural land of the former Jeanmathiashof farm has since been converted into residential accommodation. Aline Grün died in 2003 in Luxembourg and is buried in the family grave in the cemetery of Bivange.
